Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find explanations of the terms used in the report and on this site?
Everything is explained in the Documentation tab, right next to this one — the Cholq'ij calendar, the nawals, your two forces, warm and cold expression, the trecena and the Mam, birth types, and every term of the tradition, all in plain language. The answers below give you the short version of what you need to decide; one click over, the documentation explains the whole system.
What is the Cholq'ij (Tzolk'in), and how does it relate to me?
The Cholq'ij — also known as the Tzolk'in — is the sacred count of 260 days in the K'iche' Maya tradition, and its length mirrors the nine months of human gestation. Your birth date connects you to one of those 260 days, and that day is what your report reads. The full story of the calendar is in the Documentation tab.
What is a nawal?
A nawal is a conscious, living energy — a force that shapes your nature. Both forces your report reads are nawals: the number that sets your automatic impulse, and the nominal nawal that shapes your personality patterns. Together they make up your day sign. The two forces, and how they work together, are explained fully in the Documentation tab.
Do I need to believe in anything?
No belief or experience is needed, and this isn't a religion. In this tradition the nawals aren't gods or higher powers to be worshipped or appeased — they're understood as living energies you come to know, within a worldview where everything is interconnected rather than ranked beneath a single divinity. All you bring is your birth date and an open mind; it's a reconnection with how you were formed, not something you have to subscribe to.
Will I understand the report without knowing anything about the Maya calendar?
Yes. The reports are written to be as simple as possible, with as few Maya calendar terms as we could manage — plain English throughout, so your attention stays on recognizing yourself rather than on looking up what terms mean. And if you do get curious about the tradition's terms, the Documentation tab explains them all.
What is a Pregnancy Condition report?
It's a reading of how you were formed before birth — the conditions of your conception and the nine months of gestation — and how those conditions shaped your nature. It's drawn from the Maya calendar tradition, a body of knowledge built over centuries of close observation of how the circumstances a person forms in show up later in how they behave. Rather than telling you what will happen, it describes the patterns you carry, so you can recognize them in yourself.
What does the report actually tell me?
It describes two formative forces. The first comes from your conception and shapes how you instinctively operate — your constant, automatic style. The second comes from gestation and shapes what you're drawn toward — the drives and patterns of your personality, which move between a warm and a cold expression depending on your conditions. In the tradition these are pictured as water and fire: the first constant like water, always present and unchanging; the second oscillating like fire, rising and falling. The report shows how these two work together in you, where they create strength, where they create difficulty, and how to recognize each as it shows up in daily life.
How is this different from astrology, a horoscope, or a birth chart?
It isn't astrology — and it isn't "Mayan astrology," which is a modern interpretation often disconnected from the authentic Maya tradition. It doesn't read the position of planets or predict your future. It reads the formation conditions present at your conception, through your gestation, and on the day you were born — the human and energetic circumstances that shaped you. This isn't about predicting your future; it's about seeing your present clearly, so you can consciously create what comes next.
Where does this knowledge come from?
Where does this knowledge come from?
From the Maya tradition of the Guatemalan highlands — specifically the wisdom keepers of Nahuala, who have preserved this understanding of human nature across many generations. It was guarded carefully, kept within the tradition and passed directly from teacher to student rather than written down for outsiders. What we share here is offered with respect for those origins. (More in the [documentation](/documentation).)
Can I find more information about this on the internet?
Not in this form. There are many websites about the Maya calendar, but few are accurate. Much of what you'll find online is New Age material with its own interpretations, out of sync with the authentic, living tradition. History explains part of this: in colonial times the Maya books were destroyed, and only some villages — particularly in the Guatemalan highlands — were able to keep their knowledge more fully than others. The Maya lands are also home to more than 20 recognized Maya languages, so the tradition was never one single source. The knowledge this report draws on is the count best kept through the centuries in the Guatemalan highlands, passed from teacher to student. And the connection this report describes — how the conditions of your conception and pregnancy shaped your patterns — is not described anywhere else: this is the first and only report that reads it at this depth.
Is this scientifically proven?
This is interpretive knowledge from the Maya calendar tradition, developed through generations of observation — not a medical or psychological assessment. It offers a way of understanding yourself that many people find strikingly accurate, but it's meant as a starting point for your own reflection, not a clinical fact. Read it the way you'd consider any deep description of yourself: keep what resonates, sit with what doesn't.
Does "shaped before I was born" mean I can't change?
No — and it helps to see what "change" really means here. This isn't about becoming someone else; your nature is already there, and it stays. What changes is how well you know it and how you use it. When a pattern runs unconsciously, it runs you; when you can recognize it activating, a space opens between the pattern starting and the pattern controlling you — and that space is where conscious choice lives. Learning your nature is how you find what holds you back, what triggers the same problems, why certain patterns keep repeating, what truly satisfies you — and from there, how to work with what you are rather than against it. The report is meant to widen that space, not close it.
Does this mean my upbringing and environment don't matter?
They matter — but not in the way people often assume. Your upbringing, your education, and your surroundings don't change the fundamental nature formed at your conception and through your pregnancy; that inner being is already set. What they do is create an atmosphere that either supports that nature or works against it — helping your patterns express at their best, or pushing them toward their harder side. So your environment shapes how your nature plays out in life, even though it doesn't rewrite the nature itself.
How can this help me?
Many people read their report and recognize themselves in it — they see why they respond the way they do, why certain situations keep repeating, and why some areas of life come easily while others stay hard. Seeing a pattern clearly is what makes it possible to work with it rather than be run by it. It's insight and reflection, not advice or treatment — a clearer view of your present, so you can choose what comes next more consciously.
Is the report personalized to me specifically?
It's based on your date — the conception, gestation, and birth conditions associated with it — rather than on you as a named individual. Everyone connected to the same date shares the same underlying patterns, the way everyone formed under the same conditions carries the same imprint. What makes it feel personal is how precisely those patterns tend to match lived experience, not that it was written about you by name.
Why would a date describe my personality?
In this tradition, the conditions you were conceived, carried, and born under leave a lasting imprint on your nature — and the calendar maps those conditions for each of the 260 day signs. The report isn't reading you; it's reading the formation conditions of your date, then describing the patterns those conditions tend to produce. You're the one who recognizes them.
Why do siblings behave so differently?
Because each child forms in its own conditions — even with the same parents. Each is conceived in its own moment, with its own atmosphere, and that sets its number, its automatic impulse. And each is carried through its own pregnancy, with its own circumstances and its own masculine complement, and that shapes its nawal, its personality. Same parents, same home — but a different beginning and a different nine months usually mean different patterns come out. For many people this is the first thing that makes the whole system click.
Am I only my day sign?
No — your day sign is the single most significant force, but not the whole picture. In this tradition a person is more like a council of forces, with the day sign you were born into leading and others working alongside it. Your Pregnancy Condition report reads that leading force in depth; the Extra Influences reports cover the others and how they combine. Together they build the fuller, more complex picture of you.
Does this still apply if I was born by C-section, induced, or prematurely?
It depends on the kind of birth. This understanding rests on natural birth, where the baby chooses the moment of arrival to match the atmosphere of its conception and pregnancy — so the birth day reflects the true formation. An emergency C-section preserves that link: the baby was ready and simply needed help being born safely. With a scheduled birth, where the timing was chosen rather than reached naturally, you still carry the energy of your birth day, and its behavioral patterns still apply — but the reasons behind those patterns are no longer readable: the natural connection between formation and birth day was set aside, and the link to your conception and pregnancy cannot be made. An induced birth sits between these: any interference can affect the timing, so the question is whether it changed your date. If your birth had already begun and the induction only helped it finish, the date was likely still the baby's own, and the link holds. If the interference was enough to shift the date, you still carry your day sign — but the reasons behind it may no longer connect. You are the one with the information to judge which it was. A premature birth varies with the circumstances. However you arrived, it was right for your situation; this is only about understanding your formation, never a judgment on it. (See [birth types](/documentation/birth-types) for the full picture.)
What if I'm adopted or don't know my parents?
You don't need to know anything about your parents. The report describes the formation conditions carried in your date — the patterns themselves — not facts you'd have to supply about your family. The descriptions of the conception atmosphere are part of how the tradition explains the pattern, not information you need to confirm.
Why does the report describe my conception and my parents?
Because in this tradition, the conditions present around your conception and through pregnancy are what shaped your nature — so describing them is how the reading traces where your patterns come from. The conception descriptions speak of the one moment you were made — days are different, and people are different from one day to the next, so they do not describe your parents' overall life. And during pregnancy, the "masculine complement" is not necessarily your father — it is whoever held that place in your mother's life, and every mother carries her circumstances differently. Read these descriptions as the tradition's way of explaining a pattern's origin, never a judgment of your parents. (More on how formation works is in the [documentation](/documentation).)
Should I plan my baby's birth around the calendar?
No — this is not medical guidance and must never override your doctor. If there is any health reason affecting the timing or type of birth, follow your doctor's advice completely; they understand what your situation actually needs. Our reports only describe how a person's nature is shaped and how they carry those forces through life — never what to do about a birth. Where there is no medical reason and the choice is genuinely free, the tradition simply considers it most aligned to let the baby arrive in its own time.
How is the report calculated?
It's worked out from your birth date, which maps to one of the 260 day signs in the Maya Cholq'ij calendar — a specific number paired with a specific nominal nawal, both of them living forces. That day sign is what the whole report is built on. You just provide the date; the calculation is done for you.
Do I need my exact birth time?
No. This is a date-based system, so the day itself is what matters, not the hour or minute. One thing to keep in mind: Maya days usually begin around sunset, so if you were born in the evening, it's worth checking the next day's sign too.
What if I was born in the evening — which day is mine?
Maya days begin around sunset, not midnight — so an evening birth can already belong to the next day's sign. If that might be you, start with the free calculator: check both days and read what each one describes. Notice which genuinely sounds like you — your own recognition is what settles it. If you've compared both and still can't tell, email us at hello@pregnancycondition.com — describe the two signs you're weighing and what makes the choice hard, and we'll help you settle it before you buy anything. (Why the edges between days aren't sharp is explained in the [documentation](/documentation/birth).)
What's in the report and how long is it?
A full reading of roughly 10–14 pages — usually 7,000 to 10,000 words — written in direct, personal language: it speaks to you as "you" throughout. It walks through what your conception shaped, what gestation shaped, how the two work together, how to recognize each pattern in everyday life, and how to work with your nature rather than against it. It's written to be read and re-read, not skimmed once.
Can I download it, or keep it?
Both. Your report renders on screen in your account and is also available as a PDF download, and it stays in your account for you to return to any time. We recommend downloading your own copy to keep as well.
Is there an audio version?
Yes. Each section of your report has audio you can play or download, so you can listen rather than read. The narration is produced using AI text-to-speech.
What language is the report in?
English. We don't recommend translating it with translation tools — the reports are built on very carefully chosen words, and direct translation can shift their meanings significantly. They are written in plain, simple English precisely so they're easy to read without perfect English.
How do I access my report after buying?
You create an account with your email, and your reports live in your dashboard — where you can read them on screen, listen to the audio, or download them any time. You can sign in with email and password or with Google.
Is there anything I can see for free?
Yes. The free calculator finds your day sign from your birth date — no account needed — and gives you a short free reading: your automatic impulse, a summary of your character and personality patterns, and the pregnancy group your day belongs to. It's a real sense of the work before buying; the full report is where each of these is explained in depth and shown working together in daily life.
Why does the day I was born matter, if I was formed over the nine months before it?
The two aren't separate. The sacred calendar mirrors the nine months of gestation, so your birth day reflects the formation that happened in the womb — in a natural birth, the baby arrives on the day that matches what it became. That formation is what the Pregnancy Condition report reads. Your birth day also sits within larger cycles — the trecena and the Mam — and those further forces are what the Extra Influences reports describe.
What's the difference between the Pregnancy Condition report and Extra Influences?
The Pregnancy Condition report is the foundation — where everything starts. It reads your formation: the conception that shaped your constant operating style, and the nine months of gestation that shaped your personality patterns. Extra Influences reads the other forces acting on you — the trecena, the Mam, and how they combine. Where the foundation describes who you were formed to be, Extra Influences describes the movement: the patterns your life runs in, and where those forces want to lead you.
What do the Extra Influences reports explain?
The other forces acting on you — mostly the trecena your birth day sits within, the Mam, and the Mam's own trecena. These forces explain why life isn't a straight line: they push and pull, combining to create movement — the ups and downs, the seasons where you feel good and the seasons where everything feels heavy — and they show where those forces want to lead you, toward your life goals. When one of them turns cold, it doesn't act alone; it pulls the whole system around it. Extra Influences shows how these forces interact so the pattern behind your highs and lows starts to make sense. (See The Larger System in the documentation for the full picture.)
What are the trecena and the Mam?
These are two of the forces the Extra Influences reports work with: the trecena is the thirteen-day cycle your birth day sits within, and the Mam is the elder — the calendar of the solar year. Both are explained fully in The Larger System, in the Documentation tab.
Do I need both?
The Pregnancy Condition report is the foundation, and it comes first — it's the report everyone starts with, and owning it is what opens up the others. Extra Influences reports are coming soon, released one at a time; on each one's page you can register your interest, which tells us what to prioritize. Once you have the foundation, you can add the other reports as they become available — they're separate purchases, and you won't find them anywhere else.
Is this a one-time purchase or a subscription, and what does it cost?
A single one-time payment — there's no subscription, and every report you buy is yours to keep in your account. The current price is shown on the report page and at the calculator. Extra Influences reports are separate purchases; you'll find their prices on the Extra Influences page after signing in.
How quickly do I get my report?
Immediately. Your report appears in your dashboard as soon as your payment completes — ready to read, listen to, or download.
Can I buy a report for my child, partner, or someone else?
Yes. The reading is built from a date, so you simply enter the date of the person you'd like the report for — your child, your partner, anyone. There's nothing else you need to provide.
Can I get a refund?
Because a report is digital and delivered to you straight away, purchases are final once the report has been delivered (you confirm this at checkout). That said, if something has genuinely gone wrong with your order, email hello@pregnancycondition.com and we'll make it right.
Is my data private?
Yes. We keep only what's needed: your email, your account sign-in, and the date you provide for your report. Payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see or store your card details. There's no ad tracking and no third-party tracking cookies, the database is hosted in the EU, and you can request deletion at any time. The full details are in our [Privacy Policy](/privacy).
How should I read my report?
Slowly, and more than once. Treat it as a description of patterns to recognize in yourself, not a verdict — notice what lands immediately, and let the rest sit; pieces that don't seem to fit at first often surface later. The aim isn't to agree with every line but to catch yourself in the patterns as they show up in your real life.
What if parts of it don't feel like me?
That's normal, and there are a few honest reasons for it. The report describes patterns at full strength, and you may express some only mildly, or under conditions you don't often meet. Some patterns are uncomfortable to recognize and take time to see in yourself. And every pattern has a warm and a cold expression — you may know one side of it well and barely recognize the other yet. Keep what resonates and revisit the rest.
Why are some parts more accurate than others?
A few things shape this. How strongly a given pattern runs varies from person to person; some are loud in you and others quiet. Patterns also shift between their warm and cold expression depending on your circumstances, so a description may fit a season of your life more than the one you're in now. And the Extra Influences of your birth day can amplify or soften parts of the base picture.
Warm and cold — does cold mean bad?
No. Warm and cold are two movements of the same fire — not a good you and a bad you. The cold side isn't a flaw; it's the same drive when energy, conditions, or purpose run thin. The full fire teaching is in the Documentation tab.
